Percy Cummings ejaculates on TSA Agent during pat down

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Percy Cummings, a 47 year old gay interior designer, was arrested at San Francisco International Airport for ejaculating on a TSA office who was patting him for security check. The TSA full body scan detector was going off due to the multiple metal piercings on Cummings’ penis.

Percy Cummings ejaculates on TSA agent

Percy Cummings’ partner Sergio Armani says that the agent spent “an inordinate amount of time groping” the private parts of Cummings which was the reason for the arousal. The rules set forth by TSA express that anyone who ejaculates during a pat down is subject to being arrested. The interior designer was charged with sexual assault, even tough it would seem that his premature ejaculation was out of his control. At a time when the TSA is being deeply criticized by much of society, it can’t help their public image to send a innocent man to prison. Percy Cummings allegedly had history of previous sexual dysfunction, so it will be interesting to see what will be the charges that stick on Mr. Cummings.

Analyst: Howard Stern-Sirius XM Contract Worth $400 Million

NEW YORK - Sirius XM and Howard Stern on Thursday morning didn't detail financial terms of their new five year relationship, but at least one analyst estimates it is worth $400 million over the term of the contract, compared to $500 million for his previous five-year contract.
Lazard Capital Markets analyst Barton Crockett in a first reaction estimated that the deal is likely consistent with his expectations and consistent with the cash payments Stern has received in his first Sirius deal, but the shock jockey likely loses the stock portion of his compensation.
Wall Street analysts wondered though if Stern may work only three instead of four days a week given that he had expressed an interest in scaling back his time commitment.
"We have been modeling that Stern would remain, as part of flattish overall programming costs, whereby Stern continues to receive $80 million cash per year, consistent with his former deal expiring at year-end," Crockett said. "We had also assumed no stock, a step down from the $100 million, five-year stock component of the former deal."
Crockett told The Hollywood Reporter though that there may be other ways Stern may get added value from his new contract. He mentioned success-based compensation, such as in the form of bonus-type payments if the rollout of his programming on mobile devices hits certain targets, as a possibility. Or he may work less than under his previous deal. "There is tons of flexibility to structure this, but we just don't know for sure without disclosures," Crockett said.
The analyst said he assumes that the new Stern deal is costing Sirius less than the first one or the same amount at most because CFO David Frear guided Wall Street observers to expect an "overall modest long-term easing of programming costs" in a earlier this week. Crockett said he is maintaining his $1.65 price target on Sirius shares.
David Joyce, analyst at Miller Tabak, also said he is not sure how many days Stern will work. His most recent model calls for $60 million per year for three work days a week, but Stern may as well have decided to stay at four days for $80 million a year. Assuming unchanged cash earnings, hat would give Stern $300 million-$400 million.
Either way, Wall Street reacted positively to the news of the contract renewal, which observers argued will allow Sirius to maintain its recent subscriber momentum without overpaying. Plus, it gives the company the right to get Stern onto mobile devices. The stock was up 6.4% at $1.40 in early trading.
"This is a net positive for Sirius," said Joyce: "This talent retention should salvage Sirius' subscriber...[and financial] growth."

AT&T Rated Worst Cellular Provider in U.S. by Consumer Reports

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

ChattahBox U.S. News)—In a survey of 58,000 readers, Consumer Reports found that AT&T’s service ranked the lowest among American cellular carriers, and iPhone users were “by far, the least satisfied” with AT&T as their carrier, the Wall Street Journal reports. This news comes at an already unfortunate time for AT&T, with the carrier facing competition from other cellular companies who may end up also offering the iPhone, which AT&T currently carries exclusively.
AT&T spent $2 billion this year to correct weaknesses in its network following complaints of dropped calls and network quality. The company said in a statement that it takes the low Consumer Reports ranking seriously and will continue to look for ways to improve customers’ experiences, WSJ reports.
Consumer Reports ranked U.S. Cellular Corp. as the highest rated cellular company, despite the fact that the small company currently has only 6.1 million customers. Coming in second was Verizon, which has 93.2 million subscribers, WSJ reports.

Jets Order New York Steakhouse to Remove 'Jets-Themed' Menu Items

For all the controversy the New York Jets have been involved with this season, you'd think they'd stop sweating the small stuff.
According to the New York Post, however, the Jets have ordered a local steakhouse to take off certain Jets-themed menu items were not authorized by the team.
Prime KO Japanese Steakhouse, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, was serving "green on green Jets salad" and a "Jets dragon roll" until team spokeswoman Jessica Ciccone called the restaurant and demanded the items be taken off the menu. Despite the fact that the head chef, Makoto Kameyama, is a huge fan, the Jets apparently care very strongly about protecting their brand.
Meanwhile, Kameyama, originally from Japan, continues to support his favorite team, and even added a Jets-themed latke to the menu for Hanukkah -- a potato pancake topped with basil, to be specific.

December 7 1941: Famous Pearl Harbor Day Quotes

Want to teach your children about Pearl Harbor Day? It occurred on December 7 1941, when the Japanese bombed the U.S. base at Pearl Harbor in a surprise attack that led to the U.S. entering World War II. Here’s a fun fact I learned from my dear college roommate, who is Japanese and was born on Dec : Their Pearl Harbor Day is not Dec 7 1941 but actually December 8, because of the difference in time zones.
Here are some Pearl Harbor Day quotes from famous people that you can share with your kids, including the most famous one of all from Franklin D. Roosevelt, as well as one (from John Belushi) that you may want to save till they’re older:
“Yesterday, December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy , the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. … As Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense. … With confidence in our armed forces,  with the unbounded determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph, so help us God.” — President Franklin D. Roosevelt
“A gigantic fleet… has massed in Pearl Harbor. This fleet will be utterly crushed with one blow at the very beginning of hostilities…Heaven will bear witness to the righteousness of our struggle.”
– Rear-Admiral Ito, Chief of Staff of the Combined Fleet
“Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?” John Belushi, “Animal House”
“As costly as it was in the lives of our men and women in uniform, in military assets, and in esteem and pride, Pearl Harbor was a watershed moment for America.” U.S. Rep. Joe Baca (D-Calif.)
Everybody knows about Pearl Harbor. The thing that really fascinated me is that through this tragedy there was this amazing American heroism.” — Michael Bay, movie director
“Today at Pearl Harbor, veterans are gathering to pay tribute to the young men they remember who never escaped the sunken ships. And over the years, some Pearl Harbor veterans have made a last request. They ask that their ashes be brought down and placed inside the USS Arizona. After the long lives given them, they wanted to rest besides the best men they ever knew. Such loyalty and love remain the greatest strength of the United States Navy.” – President George W. Bush, Pearl Harbor Day 2001

Actress Amber Heard comes out as lesbian

Monday, December 6, 2010

Actress Amber Heard is out and proud. On Saturday, the pretty "Pineapple Express" star stepped out for the first time with her partner Tasya van Ree at the GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) 25th Anniversary party.
In an interview with AfterEllen.com, Heard, 24, said "GLAAD is one of the many reasons that I, as a 24-year-old, can come out." Heard — Johnny Depp's onscreen love in the upcoming film "The Rum Diary" — explained why she came out:
"I think when I became aware of my role in the media, I had to ask myself an important question 'Am I part of the problem?' And I think that when millions and millions of hard-working, tax paying Americans are denied their rights and denied their equality, you have to ask yourself what are the factors that are an epidemic problem and that's what this is.
"Injustice can never be stood for. It always must be fought against and I just was sick of it being a problem," Heard said, adding, "I personally think that if you deny something or if you hide something you're inadvertently admitting it's wrong. I don't feel like I'm wrong."
She gushed about love Van Ree, a photographer and artist she's been seeing since 2008.
"She is beautiful," Heard said.  "I mean, you'd have to be crazy not to want to go out with her!"

St. Nicholas Day: Today is St. Nicholas Day!

On some days, we all revert to our childhoods, Saint Nicholas Day is the perfect time to do so.
Google even chose to celebrate Saint Nicholas Day by putting out some boots and hoping that Saint Nicholas will fill them with some treats. In Germany, their search engine displays a St. Nikolaus drawing that honors the German tradition. Along with Germany, there are many more countries around Europe that are celebrating today.
Saint Nicholas has been known to bring joy to children in many countries. Children prepare their boots, making sure they are cleaned and polished, to receive gifts from the saint.
The Saint is also celebrated in Italy, Turkey, Greece, Belgium, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Georgia, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
Children who were good throughout the year can expect to find their boots filled with coins, oranges, sweets and other gifts. However, the naughty children will receive a rod in their boots, representative of punishment. The saint is kind and forgiving so they seldom get such a “blessing.”
Saint Nicholas is loosely the basis for the mythical holiday figure, Santa Claus, that is most familiar with Americans. The name Santa Claus is originally derived from a winter holiday figure Sinterklaas, celebrated in the Netherlands, Aruba, Belgium and Curacao. Sadly, the traditional meaning of the celebration of Saint Nicholas has been lost. Instead, the US representation of Santa Claus is becoming stronger and more popular.
Every country that celebrates Saint Nicholas has its own traditions and legends related to the saint. When Saint Nicholas Day approaches, the saint also announces the start of the winter holidays like Christmas and New Year, a tradition that most counties who celebrate Saint Nicholas acknowledge.
Fortunately, the saint is generous with everyone, which makes December the perfect time to contemplate the past and hopeful forigve in the future.

Countless other cartoon characters including Scooby Doo ruled the 80s' animated industry.v

Jenni Lyn Watson Dead: Steven Pieper Arrested

Saturday, November 27, 2010

There has been a break in the case of missing college student Jenni Lyn Watson today. The 20 year old student  has been missing since November 19th when she returned home to Syracuse for the Thanksgiving holiday. Today her body was found in Clay Central Park near her home. Jenni Lyn Watson’s ex-boyfriend Steven Pieper has been arrested and charged with second degree murder.

The case started about 8 days ago when shortly after her return home from school Jenni Lyn was reported missing.  It is believed by the investigators in this case that she was killed at her parents home and brought to a wooded area in Clay Town Park where her body was found today. Steven Pieper was the prime suspect from the start in the Jenni Lyn Watson disappearance and now murder. Steven Pieper appeared in court today and filed a plea of not guilty to the charge of second degree murder in the case of Jenni Lyn Watson.
The 2 had been dating on and off for about a year and a half when this past October Jenni Lyn decided to end the relationship for good. It appears as though Mr. Pieper did not agree with the break up and went after Miss Watson. Her remains have been sent to the medical examiner for an autopsy on Sunday and Steven Pieper will remain in custody until his next court appearance on December 3rd. Jenni Lyn Watson was a promising young dancer who’s life has been taken to soon by her ex boyfriend Steven Pieper.

Notre Dame football: Bowl picture only a little clearer

The absurdity of Notre Dame's bowl situation was underscored by the fact that both Boise State's upset loss to Nevada and a game between two hyphenated Louisiana schools on Saturday (UL-Monroe and UL-Lafayette) actually tinkered with their bowl picture.

Of course, the score that mattered most in the equation was the one the Irish were directly involved with - their rivalry renewal with USC at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum late Saturday night. Win, and the Irish were logically headed to the Champs Sports Bowl, Dec. 28 in Orlando to play an ACC team.

Lose and a 6-6 ND team was faced with sifting through leftovers of conferences who couldn't fill their designated allotment - many of which were games that were bad fits for the Irish.
Now imagine the same scenario with an 8-4 or 9-3 Irish team. That could happen sometime in the remaining three years of this bowl cycle. Once the Irish play the Champs Sports chip, they cannot return there during the length of the contract, which runs through the 2013 season.

In other words, it's BCS or dumpster dive.

The leftover bowls most likely to have been in play for a 6-6 Irish team or with a Champ Sports snub when regular-season play ends next weekend:

  • The Texas Bowl, Dec. 29 at Houston vs. a Big 12 team.

  • The Sun Bowl, Dec. 31 at El Paso, Texas vs. an ACC team.

  • The Las Vegas Bowl, Dec. 22 at Las Vegas against a Mountain West Conference team, most likely a Utah team the Irish already have played.

  • The BBVA Compass Bowl, Jan. 8 at Birmingham, Ala., against a Big East team.

  • The New Mexico Bowl, Dec. 18 in Albuquerque against a WAC team, and an option the Irish would surely turn down since their exams run through Dec. 17.

A Houston upset against Texas Tech late Saturday night would close the door on the Texas Bowl. A Georgia win over Georgia Tech would do the same with the BBVA Compass option.

    Coaching numbers

Brian Kelly on Saturday night became the 15th first-year Notre Dame head coach to walk the sidelines in the all-time series with USC.

Coming into the game Irish first-year head coaches were 7-7 in their first meeting with USC. Lou Holtz was the last first-year head coach to upend the Trojans in the first meeting.

Holtz's 1986 squad finished up the season with a come-from-behind 38-37 victory. The Irish trailed 37-20 with just under 12 minutes left in the contest.

The other six coaches to knock off USC in their first matchup were Hugh Devore (1963), Joe Kuharich (1959), Terry Brennan (1954), Frank Leahy (1941), Elmer Layden (1934) and Knute Rockne (1926).

    Bad to first

Looking for one of the best stories in college football this season? Take a gander at what's happening at Miami (Ohio).

Once the Oxford, Ohio, campus was the home to the "Cradle of Coaches." Guys like Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler and Ara Parseghian are all part of the Miami tradition.

Recently though, it's been a place where coaching careers went to die. Notre Dame grad and former Irish assistant coach Mike Haywood may be changing that trend.

The second-year head coach turned a 1-11 debut into an 8-4 (7-1 MAC) encore that will be capped by an appearance in the Mid-American Conference championship game on Friday.

"It's a great opportunity for our football team, when you look at where we were last year to where we are this year," Haywood told the Oxford Press.

" ... I really do think we're playing some of the best football we've played since we've been at Miami. The players are buying into the system, trusting and believing in themselves, their teammates and their coaches. Our coaches have just done a tremendous job. Our guys have gotten better the entire year."

A 23-3 win over Temple earlier this week, coupled with Kent State's upset of Ohio, allowed the RedHawks to earn the bid to the title game and likely a bowl berth.

"I didn't think it would happen this quickly," Haywood said. " ... Behind closed doors our goal this season was to be a bowl-eligible football team and we've far exceeded that. We had a five-year plan and we're in year four already. Things are going in the right direction."

    Bad to ?

Fellow former Charlie Weis assistant, Rob Ianello, landed in the MAC one year after Haywood.

He can only hope for a similar script.

Ianello's Akron Zips (1-11, 1-7) almost lived up to their nickname, but upended Buffalo in their regular-season finale on Friday, 22-14. Buffalo is coached by former Brian Kelly right-hand man, Jeff Quinn.

Even with the late victory, which meant the Football Bowl Subdivision would be devoid of any winless teams this season. Akron recorded a school-record for losses. The previous mark was held by Gerry Faust, who went 1-10 in his final season (1994).

    Good to mediocre

After recording a 12-0 regular season under Kelly and almost getting a chance to play for the national title, Cincinnati clinched bowl-ineligibility Saturday with its seventh loss of the season, 38-17, to Connecticut on Saturday.

  • Squibs

  • Notre Dame came into Saturday night's game with USC with a higher national ranking in three of the four major defensive categories (pass-efficiency defense, total defense and scoring defense).

The last time the Irish were better in even one defensive category heading into the USC game was 2002. The last time they held an upper hand in more than one was 2000.

  • Irish junior wide receiver Michael Floyd's touchdown catch with 2:39 left in the first half was the 26th of his career, leaving him one shy of Jeff Samardzija's school record.

  • Notre Dame won the coin toss Saturday night, but changed its strategy. Kelly elected to defer instead of taking the ball first. The Irish had received the football in each of their first 11 games.

  • Game captains were Floyd and safety Harrison Smith. It was Floyd's team-leading fifth selection. Smith has been a captain four times, second-most on the team.

  • Backup safety Dan McCarthy, who has battled injuries for most of the season, did not make the travel roster.

  • Notre Dame ended up playing 10 bowl-eligible teams this season. The only two that didn't earn that distinction was Purdue, because of its record (4-8), and USC, because of probation.

No team in the FBS played more bowl-eligible teams this season.

  • By halftime Notre Dame's defense had extended its streak without allowing an offensive touchdown to 13 straight quarters.

  • Notre Dame's 16-play scoring drive in the first half was its longest since a 19-play drive against UCLA in 2006.

aturday Night: SNL not live tonight as Kanye, host Cranston repeat

Saturday Night Live is understandably taking the night off, as SNL drops into a repeat tonight of the episode from earlier this season starring host Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Malcolm in the Middle) and musical guest Kanye West (who would surely declare this to be the greatest SNL repeat of all time). There’s been a mild amount of rumbling so far this season, as factual or not, it feels like SNL has been a repeat as often as it’s been live since the current season began on NBC. But this being Thanksgiving week, it feels like we can give the Saturday Night Live cast and crew a break this time around, even if they’re once again not “Live” as their name proclaims.

    Randy Shannon's firing was inevitable

Miami’s loss to South Florida on Saturday didn’t get Randy Shannon fired -- four years of mediocrity did.

The embarrassing 23-20 loss to the Bulls of the Big East was just one more glaring blemish the UM administration couldn’t ignore -- especially on a day when rival Florida State was basking in the glory of beating up on Florida and celebrating a trip to the ACC championship game in Jimbo Fisher’s first season.

Steve Mitchell/US PresswireRandy Shannon finished with a mediocre 28-22 record in four seasons as Miami's head coach.
Miami’s speed gets a lot of attention, the problem is how they've used it -- the Canes have gone nowhere fast.

In four seasons under Shannon, Miami failed to win the Coastal Division, has yet to win a bowl game, and is 3-4 against BCS opponents from the state of Florida. Meanwhile, it took one season under Fisher for the Seminoles to earn the title of state champs. It was only a matter of time before Shannon was held accountable at a program whose standard is five national titles.

None of Shannon’s 28 wins were all that memorable. Some of his 22 losses, though, were hard to forget.

Once again, Virginia handed the Canes one of their most embarrassing losses of the season. In 2007, it was the 48-0 loss in the final game at the Orange Bowl. This year, it was a 24-19 loss in Charlottesville to a team that had yet to win a conference game. There was also the 31-7 collapse last year at Virginia Tech.

The highlight of Shannon’s coaching career at Miami just might have been this year’s win over Butch Davis -- the first time he was able to beat Miami’s former coach since both took over their respective programs. Maybe it was the win over then-ranked No. 8 Oklahoma last year, but it wasn’t the same Oklahoma team without Sam Bradford.

The bottom line is that none of those 28 wins amounted to anything in the postseason. And Miami fans have grown tired of it. Week after week this season, somebody takes a snapshot of an empty Sun Life Stadium and it makes its way around Twitter. It’s been embarrassing to the program and the ACC, but it’s not like Shannon has given the fan base much to cheer about.

This failure, though, doesn’t fall squarely on Shannon’s shoulders. It also falls on the administration who hired him, and it’s up to athletic director Kirby Hocutt and university president Donna Shalala to get it right this time.

    It wasn’t a complete disaster.

Shannon changed the perception of the program. He instilled discipline, and leads all active BCS coaches with a 977 lifetime APR average. Those things count, but fans want to see Miami leading the BCS standings more. Shannon was given a contract extension prior to this season with the expectation that a championship of some form would be won either this year or next. The expectation was that he had the talent to do it and had finally found some stability at the coordinator position.

Instead, nothing changed. The loss to South Florida only magnified that.

Everything from Shannon's ability to lead to his ability to coach has been questioned during his tenure. Miami's administration just decided to answer sooner than later.

Kyle Brotzman Misses as Nevada Defeats Boise State

LAS VEGAS (LALATE) – Kyle Brotzman’s two missed kicks resulted in Nevada ending Boise State’s hopes this season. Kyle Brotzman missed not one but two critical kicks, within minutes of each other, setting up a Nevada victory in overtime. With two seconds left in regulation, Brotzman missed a 26-yard field goal. Then in overtime, he missed a 29 yard kick. Anthony Martinez responded by giving Nevada the game winning 34-yard kick. Final score, Nevada defeats Boise State 34-31.
Brotzman’s blunders ended Boise State’s 24-game winning streak. They also destroyed the team’s hopes for a national title.
Boise coach Chris Petersen’s was still in shock when approached by news after the game. He said his team missed many critical plays, not just two kicks. “One play can win a game but one play can’t lose it.” Boise State’s hopes for a third BCS bowl since 2006 are destroyed, and Nevada achieved the biggest upset of the week in college football.

MSU Herp Club hosts event educating students about reptiles, amphibians

Pythons, frogs and turtles crawled and slithered around their enclosures at an MSU Herp Club educational event Wednesday in the Natural Science Building.
Students and community members had the opportunity to interact with animals, including a ball python.
Herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians. The MSU Herp Club
studies herpetology and organizes outreach events, such as Wednesday’s “How
to Train Your Bearded Dragon,” which was held to inform people about owning the animals as pets and the conservation of species.
Often people are afraid of these types of animals, especially snakes, because they do not know much about them, MSU Herp Club President and zoology junior Emily Gertiser said.
“I know a lot of people are very fearful of snakes and lizards,” Gertiser said. “It’s just a harmless animal that’s just trying to live its life. They don’t have the intention to harm.”
People do not always view these kinds of animals negatively, but do not feel comfortable around them either, MSU Herp Club adviser and herpetology specialist Jim Harding said.
“A lot of people are not so much antagonistic,” Harding said. “(They’re) just nervous. They want to know if (the amphibian or reptile) is going to hurt them.”
Educating people about how to care for these animals as pets was another purpose of the event, Harding said.
“We want them to know the proper way to care for them and maintain them,” Harding said.
“I think it’s a good service we can do.”
Fisheries and wildlife junior Nate Spala attended the event to gain ideas for a new pet. He said he was glad to see other people interested in herpetology.
“I used to catch snakes when I was little and keep them,” Spala said. “It’s a great way to get hands on experience (holding the animals).”
Animals including dart frogs, a spiny-tailed lizard and African tortoises were at the event.
Some of the reptiles and amphibians were pets of the MSU Herp Club’s members. Preuss Pets, 1127 N. Cedar St., and the Fenner Nature Center, 2020 E. Mount Hope Ave., both in Lansing, also brought animals to the event.
Some club members held their pets and allowed attendees to do the same.
Later, Chris Gertiser, a zookeeper at Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, Mich., spoke about his work experiences and a typical day in his life.
Earlier, he held a black-headed monitor, a type of lizard, on a leash and talked with attendees. Gertiser said he hoped people would appreciate zookeeping more after he spoke with them about it.

“A lot of people think we cuddle with baby animals all day long,” Gertiser said. “(But) there’s a lot of poop to clean everyday.”

boundaries of the world. It has brought tremendous transformation in the fields ofcommerce and trade.Business is no more a native phenomenon.
International trade is knocking at the doors of every country and every one has to answer its call.
The wonderful advancement in Information technology has readlly made this world a global village. No one can think of daily
business without it.It has become the need of every individual. It represents the efficiency of a nation. It is a perfect example of national
development. In developing countries like Pakistan, the importance of information technology was not understood initially. But now Government
has taken some steps forward to adopt information technology as amode of conducting its operations.
Different institutions are established to meet the increasing demand of the students. These educational institutions are preparing the right
professionals who can plan and execute important technology is a vast field. It is not the name of only one technology. It consists of Information
system,Internet technology, hardwares and softwares of computers. In our country only imported machinery and technology are used. Our nation needs
operational as well as technological skills. We should be independent in this field. We have become smart operators but technological
skills are far away from us.Our technicians work for foreign companies as they have no other option.
computer has revolutionized the modes of thinking and reasoning today. No other media can provide us information as speedily as a computer can
through internet service Computer software and hardware industries are at peak.Internet facilities have enabled us to have the worldwide information
at our desk.Electronic mail(e-mail) is the swiftest and cheapest way of communication. We can send and receive messages within seconds all around the

    TECHNICAL EDUCATION

Technical education means education in the use of kinds of machines and techniques of industry. This education can be easily
distinguished from general education.General education promotes character through the education of life. But technical education
teacher us about the parts or components of machines and the ways of working and repairing them.It also teaches us about the
production and use of spare parts.
It is perhaps, for no valid reasons that men of science feel low in the presence of men of learning. There is general feeling that
this type of education is of the highest importance.
The prosperity of a country depends on its ability to trade with other countries and export the maximum quantity of its products.
Internal competition is going on a large scale and every country is trying to outdo the other is commerce and exchange.Pakistan is
is rich in raw material but is badly lacking in technical skill required to turn that raw material to finished products. The
country, which aims at wealth and prosperity, should possess a large number of trained technicians.
This is an industrial age. Most complicated machinery is installed to cater for the needs of modern society. In order to become
useful members of the society,we have to learn some art.Agriclture is no longer the main profession that earnthe livelihood for
the mass population of the world.Pakistan is not sufficiently advanced in technical education. In all the progressive countries
of the world, great importance is attached to technical education.America,Russia, and the United Kingdom are first-rate powers
of the world. Why?It is because they are technically and scientifically more advanced than other countries.
Government is taking interest and agricultural and agricultural and engineeringvschools and colleges are being established here
and there. But mere government efforts won,t do in this field, people themselves should also exert to create greater facilities for
technical education.Manual labour should not be looked down upon.People should realize the dignity of labour.
In the end it must be said that general education is as much essential as technical education. One should not be encouraged at the
cost of the other. If one teaches us how to earn our living, the other teaches us how to live.Education must prepare men not not only
to earn their livelihood but also to be good citizens and to be gentle. Our enthusiasm for technical education must not lag behind. It
is our pressing need to become more civlized human being.

    THE DIGNITY OF LABOUR

    THE DIGNITY OF LABOUR

    1. By labour we generally mean work done by hands.
    2. There is nothing shameful in becoming a skill-worker.
    3. In Islam all human beings are equal.Islam does not allow distinction on the basis of profession.
    4. In Islam honest work of all kinds is worth respecting.
5.We should give equal status to the labour class in the society.

By labour we generally mean work done by hands.Unfortunately, this word is used in a negative sense. There is nothing shameful in it.
People having narrow mind refer the word labour to professions adopted by carpenters, masons and their assistants. They also associate them
with lower middle class of society. As a matter of fact these professions are benefactors of society. They play a vital role for peace and
prosperity of our life. For example ,mason builds a house to shelter us ,a tailor sews clothes to cover our body and a farmer tills the
    soil to feed us.
We should not ignore that no office peon is employed in any office of the advanced countries because in those countries every
office worker feels no shame in doing the peon work himself. We are Muslims and unfortunately we feel it below our dignity.
If we read the history of nations like japan, china,Germany etc,we shall leam that their economic development is based on attaching
dignity to manual work.On the other hand our pakistan engineer will feel it below his dignity to join two wires and will say that
it is the work of his subordinate mechanic.
In Islam all human beings are equal.Islam does not allow distinction on the basis of profession. The Holy Prophet(peace be upon him)
used to work with his own hands. He carried bricks for the construction of mosque and did not feel ashamed in mending his outworn
shoes. In Islam honest work of all kinds is worth respecting.Even a sweeper deserves respect. In Islam work is worship.
We have misuse the concept of labour and this is the major cause of backwardness in our country. If we want to improve our economic
condition,we should give equal status to the labour class in the society.

Happy Thanksgiving — Our Thanksgiving Message

    Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Well, friends, tomorrow’s the big day. Thanksgiving. It’s my very favorite holiday and I think it’s because Thanksgiving has somehow managed to maintain its integrity in an age when most special days are commercialized to the point of caricature. Uniquely unadulterated, Thanksgiving has never kowtowed to Hallmark executives or any other entity for that matter.
Nope. With Thanksgiving, what you see is what you get. Simply a day dedicated to giving thanks for our many blessings. Big things. Little things. Important things. Silly things. In honor of tomorrow’s holiday, we thought we’d get the ball rolling by telling you, our readers, some of the things for which we’re thankful.

Margaret Wheeler Johnson, editor extraordinaire: After a scare a friend’s family is going through, I’m thankful for health. I feel so lucky that even though I’m 28 and spend Thanksgiving a thousand miles from my parents, I’m as close to them as ever — see you at Christmas, Mom and Dad! I’m grateful to know the post-turkey coma is all in my mind—thanks, Heather. And I’m so thankful for the community I’ve found at Babble and Strollerderby.
Joe, our social media guru: I’m thankful that both my grandmas are still celebrating Thanksgiving with their families in the year 2010. I’m thankful that three Thanksgiving football games are being televised in New York this year. I’m thankful that my dad will have a deluxe wine list, and that I’ll take home enough leftovers to eat for several weeks.
Danielle: I am grateful for the day-in and day-out safety of my husband while he volunteers his time to keep the public safe. I am thankful for my children for teaching me to live life to the fullset. I am thankful for our surprise baby #3 who has already changed our lives in so many ways. I am thankful for my parents and family for being such a large and amazing support system.
Sierra Black: I’m grateful for the sunshine, the clean water, the fertile earth and the wind. I’m grateful for all the many hands that work to bring every meal to my table, from the migrant farm workers picking vegetables in California to my kids setting the table. I’m thankful for my healthy, happy, whole family , and for the time we have all together at Thanksgiving.
Paula Bernstein: I’m thankful for my health, my beautiful family and for the fact that I get to do what I love for a living! I’m also thankful that I live in a country where I am free to express my (wildly unpopular) opinions. Most of all, I’m thankful that I didn’t burn down the house while baking my Thanksgiving Pies.
Sandy Maple: I am thankful for the love, support and continued good health of my extended family. I am thankful for my husband, who puts up with my extended family without complaining (much). I am thankful for my sweet little dog and my grumpy little cat. Most of all, I am thankful for my children, who fill me up with love and light. I am truly blessed.
And me?: I’m thankful for my beautiful wife, with whom I’m madly in love. I’m thankful for my children who fill my world with light. (I promise that I wasn’t copying Sandy when I jotted down my thankful-list!) I’m thankful that Caroline and I will be blessed with yet another child next summer. I’m thankful that I get to contribute regularly to a website as wonderful as Babble/Strollerderby alongside some very bright, talented and kind people. AND, I’m very thankful for each and every one of the Strollerderby’s readers — even those (perhaps, particularly those) who disagree with me. (Special shout-out to Linda, the original one!)
    Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

    Thanksgiving Greetings From Senator Rockefeller

U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller issued the following Thanksgiving message on Wednesday:

There are so many reasons I am proud to be a West Virginian, and why I am thankful every day to represent our state in the United States Senate.  During this Thanksgiving week, I give special thanks for our sense of community and commitment to one another – for West Virginia’s hard workers, giving neighbors, and honest, good-hearted people.

West Virginians are some of the strongest, most resourceful individuals in the nation, and our greatest work is done when we come together to help each other in times of trouble or share in times of joy.

West Virginians work long hours – in the small businesses and mom-and-pop stores serving our communities, in the Veterans clinics and medical centers caring for our vets, in our mines – keeping the lights on in America, and in our classrooms training our state’s next generation.  I am so thankful for every one of our workers and all that they do – as social workers and caregivers, first responders, engineers and community leaders. Their spirit, optimism, and unending hard work keep our state strong.

We know that it is especially hard to celebrate holidays in a tough economy. We must keep working to get the economy moving in a way that creates jobs, restores home values, and protects retirement.  For those out of work or underpaid this holiday season – it is frustrating and hard – but we also know that West Virginians help each other through tough times.  I am thankful for everyone who has contributed time or other resources toward making sure that each of our neighbors has a meal on the table.  Holidays – in good times and bad – renew our spirits and remind us of the importance of family and community and faith.

As we join hands in prayer with friends and family and sit at the dinner table during this special time of thanks, it is my wish that not just during this holiday, but every day, we can work together to reach the greater good. I know that our resilience and constant efforts will help to create a brighter future for West Virginia and our nation.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  May God bless you and your loved ones, our great state and the United States of America.
